PROJECT DETAILS

Not for profit organizations that are focused on field research, often target a wide demographic due to the variety of applications of their findings. This is especially true for the Colour Research Society of Canada who were looking to increase their brand awareness among younger audiences, in the tail end of their studies, using social media.

DESIGN SYSTEM

The existing branding for the Colour Research Society of Canada features flat application of colour and repetition of circular forms. Layering of circles and applications of similar flat colours with slight variation of shade allowed for a sense of depth to be conveyed that was only amplified when combined with photographic elements. By exploring opportunities to mask certain features of the photos, an even stronger sense of depth could be conveyed seamlessly unifying the photographic and illustrative elements.

COLOUR FACTS

In order to target younger audiences and intellectuals studying a variety of subjects and disciplines our strategy employed the use of thought provoking facts about colour. By presenting the fact in the form of a question, the post could direct social media users to related articles published on the organization’s website.

What was the first colour in the universe?

Do chameleons change colour while they sleep?

How do we get colour from black?
